Tragically, a fatality occurred on the network yesterday. Our thoughts are with the Train Driver, the family of the person involved, and all of our colleagues who responded to this terrible event. We will offer support to anyone affected by this tragedy. I also want to emphasise that rail safety, your safety and that of our customers and communities, is our utmost priority. I think we are running out of superlatives to describe our recent performance! Thanks to a great team effort, we have achieved our performance KPIs for the last 5 months! Last week we were sitting at 98% reliability, 89% right time starts, and 96% punctuality and we are tracking positively for the month of December. Let’s keep up the high standard our customers have come to expect and close out the year in style.
Last week, members of the SMT joined the monthly All Star Winners at the annual All Star luncheon. It was a fitting celebration of the Journey Makers who demonstrate our core values, performing above and beyond the call of duty. Please join me in congratulating our 2018 winners; Steven Avery, Leighton Mosese, Sean Jones, Dane Fraser, Scott Wooten, Ali Mohammed, Stewart Lawson, Bastiaan Luijks and Vijanti Devi. All our deserved winners were nominated for the Australasian Golden Star Awards.
By now, many of you are aware of the pre-planned disruption on Wednesday. A temporary timetable will be in effect to allow RMTU members the opportunity to discuss the Collective Agreement negotiations. This means trains will not run during the morning inter-peak period, which will affect many of our customers. As Journey Makers, we need to do our best to assist passengers that will be affected in this period, particularly our accessibility customers. Please refer customers to the AT website for full details. www.AT.govt.nz.
A reminder that the Pulse Survey is open until 17 December. If you have not submitted yours already, please take the time to complete one and have your say about the environment you work in. It is worth mentioning that for every survey completed, Transdev donates $10 to our Spirit partner, the Starship Foundation. Please speak to your Line Manager if you need assistance.
Lastly, thank you to all teams who worked during Christmas in the Park, it was great to be a part of the TDAK team based at Grafton station for the event egress and I’m pleased to say the night was a great success, moving more than 10,000 customers dressed in Santa hats, elf ears, and filled with Christmas spirit. It was an absolute pleasure to talk to so many of our people – LEs, TMs, Station Team Leaders, Platform Supervisors, volunteers from Head Office, plus the large numbers of Transport Officers, Maori Wardens, Security, AT staff and police who fully embraced the festive atmosphere while keeping our customers and our people safe. It made me feel mighty proud to be part of the TDAK team.
